Chitistvala is a local, less common grape variety, it provides quality table white and dessert wines. Due to the small distribution of the variety, synonyms are not known, both among local viticulturists and in the literary sources of viticulture. The bird’s eye is derived from the local hub of origin of cultivated vine varieties. The name `Bird’s Eye ‘- the breed is coined because of the shape and thickness of its grains, which, compared to the grains of other breeds, are really round and thin like a bird’s eye. Currently, Chitistvala is spread in Kakheti, mainly in Gurjaani, Telavi and Sighnaghi districts, more often as a mixture.
