Saphena (Kakheti)

Saphena grapes are a local vine variety from Kakheti. It is used to make dry white wines with Green Kakhetian and Rkatsiteli – it is rarely used to make varietal wines. The wine can be characterized as mild, moderately extractive, harmonious, with a well-defined varietal aroma. Moderately grazed with powdery mildew and strongly – with ash. Drought- and frost-resistance, according to many years of observations, is satisfactory. The degree of ripening of the horns is good. Growth strength – medium. Ripening period in mid-September. Is a collectible variety.
